My child has Breath-Holding syndrome, Has any body else experienced this with their child or have more info?
My 13 month old daughter had a tumor, from where she was hit with the forceps during delivery, that was overlooked for a while. They caught it after she began having seizures, and it was operated on. Since then, she's been passing out quite frequently. She's been to a doctor and a neurologist, and they both said she has severe "Breath-holding syndrome" and she would out grow it. They also told me that it occurs because she's excited, upset, startled... etc. Well, the other night I was just making dinner and she was sitting on her mat contently playing with a few toys and it happened again... I revived her and called 911, they said she was fine. I took her to the doctors the next day, and he said he wouldn't be overly concerned about this episode. It was just confusing to me because she wasn't upset about anything, just sitting there contently playing. I was wondering has anybody else experienced anything similar with their children, and how old were they when they outgrew it?
My first child use to hold her breath until she passed out. This would happen if she got hurt, or upset. I would freak out at first too. many trips to the ER. They doctor always told me not to worry. Once they pass out, they resume normal breathing. She stopped at about 2. She is 9 now, and has no ill-effects from the breath holding. Good luck to you...
